INDEPENDENCE, Ia (May 30, 2006) - The Indee Open Series is preparing to make its way to a pair of venues away from home in June for its annual mid-summer road show.

The June 6 event marks the first of two stops this season at the Butler County half-mile. It will return to the facility on August 1.

Keokuk's Tommy Elston topped the field of late models in the series' first-ever visit to the speedway in 2005. Todd Hanson scored the modified victory and Shane Barnett was the winner in the hobby stocks.

Scheduled to compete on June 6 include $2,000-to-win late models, $700-to-win modifieds and $450-to-win hobby stocks.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps set for 6:30 and the first green flag to fly at 7.

The series makes its first-ever visit to Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge one week later on Tuesday, June 13.

Late models, hobby stocks and B modifieds are scheduled to compete on the half-mile oval.

Regular series competitors will earn the chance to compete for a larger purse during the September 2 Indee Open Series Finale at Independence, the eighth and final series event of the season. Late model drivers who compete in at least seven of the eight series events will get a chance to earn $6,000 with a feature win in the finale.

Likewise, modified drivers who compete in six of their seven series events will be eligible to earn $2,000 with a win on championship night. In addition, stock car drivers who compete in three of the four scheduled Indee Open dates for that division will have the chance to take home $1,000 with a feature win on September 2.
