Independence Motor Speedway
by: Ryan Clark
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (April 11) - Mother Nature has let it be known - winter is
not quite over.
Due to recent snowfall and cold temperatures combined with more precipitation in
the forecast for the rest of the week, the annual car show and practice
scheduled for April 14 at Independence Motor Speedway have been canceled. The
already once-rescheduled events have been dropped from the 2007 schedule.
The opening night of weekly racing, sponsored by eCreative Group of Independence
and set for Saturday, April 21, is now scheduled to kick off the 2007 season.
I.M.C.A.-sanctioned late models, modifieds, stock cars and hobby stocks, along
with unsanctioned B modifieds, will headline weekly racing on the 3/8-mile oval.
Admission prices for 2007 remain unchanged from last season. Adult grandstand
admission is $10, students 12-17 $7, kids 6-11 $2, and children five and under
free. Weekly pit passes remain at $20 with the purchase of a $5 insurance card
required upon an individual's first visit.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps slated for 6 and the first green flag
set to fall at 6:30.
