Coca-Cola, Boy Scouts of America Night May 5 at Independence 
Motor Speedway
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (April 30) - Race fans will have the chance to see a little 
racing off the track prior to the on-track competition this Saturday night at 
Independence Motor Speedway. 
The Boy Scouts of America will be on-hand during the afternoon to take part in a 
pinewood derby race to be held in the 4-H Building on the Buchanan County 
Fairgrounds. All Scouts who participate in the event will be given vouchers to 
attend the night's racing program free of charge.
In addition to the pinewood derby, local drivers will be on-hand with their cars 
on display and will be available to sign autographs for those in attendance. 
Weigh in for the derby will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. with racing to be held 
from 1-4:30.
Coca-Cola will be sponsoring the evening's racing program and will award prizes 
throughout the night. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6 
and the racing to begin at 6:30.
