Deery Series headlines July 3 show at Independence Motor 
Speedway
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 26) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Sunoco 
Late Models will headline the early holiday special on Tuesday, July 3 at 
Independence Motor Speedway.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. 
Top prize is $2,000, with a minimum of $250 paid to make the 24-car starting 
field. Sanctioned Modifieds are also on the card, racing for $375 to win along 
with national, regional and Smiley’s Racing Products state points.
Hometown hotshoe Curt Martin has won six of the previous 19 Deery events held at 
Independence. Five-time and defending series champion Jeff Aikey of Waterloo and 
Gary Webb of Blue Grass have both won twice.
One-time winners include Darin Duffy and Rick Wendling, both of Hazleton, Rollie 
Frink of Davenport, Terry Gallaher of New London, Mo., Craig Jacobs of Des 
Moines, Johnny Johnson of West Burlington, Denny Osborn of Cedar Falls, Rob 
Toland of Bettendorf and most recently Terry Neal of Ely.
The race at Independence is the 10th of 16 on the 2007 Deery schedule. The 
series is at 34 Raceway in West Burlington on July 17 before traveling to 
Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids for its annual outing on asphalt on Aug. 
8.
