Shmauss, Bloemke, and Snyder grab their first wins of the
season at The Hamilton County Speedway
By: Ryan Bergeson
RADCLIFFE, IA (June 9) - Night #8 at The Hamilton County Speedway was in full
throttle this Saturday with the theme being Hawaiian night. Three new drivers
would visit the Hamilton County Speedway victory lane giving the fans a reason
to stand and cheer.
The night was started off with the 5-lap IMCA Sport Compact Feature. Jena
Barthelmus would be challenged early on in the event by Jennifer Frank. Frank
was able to take the lead on the back stretch but Barthelmes was able to power
her way back to the lead coming off of turn 4. Barthelmus would then check out
on the rest of the field and cruise to the feature win. Barthelems would be
followed to the line by Frank, and Adam Rodamakeer.
The Performance Electric Hobby Stocks would be next on the speedway. Kevin
Schmauss would grab the early lead as he was followed by Kyle Schmauss. Brandon
Toftee was able to make the pass for the second position on the raceway but
would not have enough to reel in the race leader. Kevin Schauss would go to pick
up his first feature win of the season at The Hamilton County Speedway followed
by Toftee, Mark Haglund, and Kyle Schmauss.
The Conley Trucking Limited Modifieds were up next for their 12 lap feature
event. Rocky Caudle would take the lead at the drop of the green flag but that
would not last long. Matt Northrop would make the pass and hustle his machine to
the front. Matt Lettow was able to work his car to second and eventually he
would run down the race leader. Lettow would take the lead as Nate Caruth came
to second. Caruth would try for several laps to find the right line to run down
Lettow but would be out of time. Lettow would take home the trophy followed by
Caruth, Brett Moffitt, and Matt Northrop.
The Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Stock Cars were next out on the
raceway. Right from the start of the race, several cars would try to take
ownership of the captains chair. Bob Sutherland, Adam Silvey, Scott Bloemke,
Todd Foster and several other drivers would be racing right together around the
Historic Half Mile. Finally, Bloemke was able to take the lead away followed by
Silvey. Just as Bloemke would take the lead, Silvey would hammer to the bottom
of the speedway and sling shot past to the top spot. Mitchell Griffith would
begin running high on the speedway and start picking off cars one by one. As the
leaders went through turn one, Silvey would once again open the door and Bloemke
would shoot past again for the lead. Griffith and Silvey would put on a great
show running side by side for second as Bloemke went on to grab his first
feature win of the season. Adam Silvey, Mitchell Griffith, and Todd Foster would
round out the top four.
The Modifieds would take center stage on the speedway next and Jon Snyder would
prove to be the class of the field. Snyder was able to take the lead from the
drop of the green flag. He would be chased early on by Scott Olson and Dave
Doughty. Doughty was finally able to advance his way to second and Scott Olson
and Ryan Giles would run wheel to wheel for third. Doughty would do his best to
reel in the race leader but would be out of time. Jon Snyder would pocket his
first feature win of the season followed by Doughty, Olson, and Ryan Giles.
The final race of the night would be the Motor Inn of Webster City IMCA Late
Models. Al Johnson would take the early lead as he powered his way around the
bottom side of the speedway. Todd Cooney would advance to second as Darrel
DeFrance began running one lane above the lower portion of the speedway.
DeFrance was able to make the pass coming off of turn 4 to take the second
position away. DeFrance would then waste no time reeling in the race leader
Johnson. DeFrance again would wheel his machine to the top of the speedway and
take the lead from Johnson. Todd Cooney would follow DeFrance and power his way
to second on the raceway. Cooney would try for several laps to run down DeFrance
but could not find the right stuff. DeFrance would become the first repeat
winner in the Late Model division in 2007. DeFrance was followed to the
checkered flag by Cooney, Johnson, and Adam Larson.
The Hamilton County Speedway congratulates all the feature winners on a very
special Hawaiian night number 8. We appreciate all the great fans in the stands
on Saturday nights and also all of the race teams that help pack the pit area.
Hot Laps start every Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. with racing to follow. Thanks
for making The Hamilton County Speedway the place to be on Saturday nights.
