Gebel Claims First Career Win at BCS; Roster & Auringer Dominate

VINTON, IA (June 24) - Mother Nature provided just enough water during the previous three days to provide an extremely tacky and fast surface Sunday at the Benton County Speedway. With the largest car count of the season, all six divisions saw exciting racing action and intense racing.

JD Auringer continued his dominance of the IMCA modified division powering his way into the lead and completely dominating the final laps to pick up his second consecutive win. Auringer worked the field flawlessly taking the checkers with over a straight away lead over Tom Hansen, who scored his best finish of the season. Brian Krall Finished third.

In what is a regular occurrence in the IMCA stock car division, another fantastic feature event was completed with Curtis Roster taking the win. Roster, who had mechanical problems the previous week, preventing him from a possible win, was able to overcome any mechanical jinx on this night to take the popular win for the hometown driver. Scooter Dulin impressed with another great run taking home his second consecutive runner up finish. Brian Irvine finished third.

Persistence paid off for Adam Gebel who was able to capture his first career IMCA hobby stock feature win. Gebel’s win was well deserved as a late race caution bunched up the field allowing veteran, Chris Luloff, to challenge for the lead. Luloff would briefly take a peak at the lead but would be overcome by the hard charging Gebel and the finish. Luloff finished second ahead of Curt Hilmer.

Danny Dvorak motored to the feature win in the IMCA sport mod division. Kyle Olson paced the field early in the event holding off the heavy pressures of Dvorak. With only a handful of laps remaining, Dvorak was able to slip by the Olson machine and take the win. Olson finished second ahead of Jim Buhlman.

Mike Mitchell held off the hard charging Jena Barthelmes to take the win in the IMCA sport compact feature. Barthelmes finished second ahead of Gary Pfeiffer.
The duo of Kaiser and Schumacher survived the two person cruiser feature. The win was their second of the season.
