Annett and Pilot Travel Centers Fuel Excitement for Talladega
Contact: Michelle Petroff, TMC Racing
WEST DES MOINES, IA (October 3, 2007) – Michael Annett is fresh off of a Top-5
finish the final point-awarding event of the ASALMS “Challenge Division” and is
ready to change gears and return to the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
Annett, the 21 year-old rising star from Iowa, has turned heads in his limited
appearances with the ARS tour this season. His hometown debut at Rusty Wallace’s
Iowa Speedway consisted of SIM Factory Pole “Fast Qualifier” honors and a podium
finish. His speedway debut at Nashville Superspeedway was equally impressive
with a third-place qualifying effort and Top-10 finish and was once again
matched at his most recent ARS showing at Gateway International Raceway.
The energetic Hawkeye native is now fueled by adrenalin and speed and is ready
for his first restrictor plate race at the historic 2.66-mi paved oval. For his
final ARCA RE/MAX Series’ event of the 2007 season, Annett has joined forces
with NASCAR powerhouse Bill Davis Racing. BDR will field a trio of Camrys for
this event - Annett (#28 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota), Bobby Santos III (Chimney
Rock Cattle Company Toyota) and Jacques Villeneuve (#02 BDR Toyota).
“This is an exciting opportunity for me to be able to drive for Bill Davis
Racing,” commented Annett. “Their experience both at the track and in the shop
give the best equipment and I think it will give us an advantage at a track like
Talladega. I have learned so much from Joe Lax and the BDR team that I hope we
can continue to build on what we learned at the test.”
Annett was one of forty-four teams that participated in last week’s open test
session. He led the morning session and was second on the final speed chart
after posting a 51.6 second lap with speeds at 185.581mph. If the #28 Pilot
Travel Centers Toyota team can improve on that performance, they will definitely
be one of the cars to watch for Saturday’s 94-lap event.
“Talladega is going to be a great learning experience for me! It allows me to
gain valuable experience working in the draft that will be a key factor in my
future,“ Annett added. “I am thrilled that Pilot Travel Centers signed on as our
title sponsor for this race. They are headquartered not too far from here in
Knoxville (TN) and to have them onboard at such a historical racetrack is an
honor. I am also looking forward to the new experience of having a pair of
teammates with Bobby Santos III and Jacques Villeneuve to work with and
compliment each other throughout the weekend.”
Annett and his Pilot Travel Centers/Bill Davis Racing Team are fueled with
excitement for a busy race weekend at the largest track on the NASCAR and ARCA
RE/MAX Series’ tour. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying is scheduled for 3:30pm EDT on
Thursday, October 4th, 2007. The green flag will drop for the “ARCA RE/MAX 250”
(94 laps/250 miles) on Friday, October 5th, just after 5:00pm EDT and the
cameras will be on-hand to broadcast all of the action live via a three-hour
special on SPEED.
Michael Annett’s #28 Bill Davis Racing fielded Toyota Camry will carry support
from Pilot Travel Centers, Benson International, Allstate Peterbilt, Marmon
Highway Technologies, Northland Oil, Reliance Supply, Inc., Bell Helmets and
Sparco.
