Davenport Deery rescheduled, series race at Maquoketa canceled

DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 18) – More rain means more changes to the schedule for the Deery Brothers Sum mer Series for IMCA J & J Steel Late Models.

Tonight’s scheduled event at Davenport Speedway has been rained out and rescheduled for Tuesday, July 22. Saturday’s show at Jackson County in Maquoketa has been canceled.

No changes have been made for the race day schedule at Davenport. Pit gates will open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and the first heat is set for 6:30 p.m. on the ¼-mile oval. The tour will be at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa the next night.

Cancellation of the Maquoketa feature leaves 17 events on the schedule for 2008. Next up are races on Tuesday, April 29 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington and on Wednesday, April 30 at Quincy, Ill., Raceway. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 p.m.
and racing at 7 p.m. both nights.

That doubleheader was postponed because of inclement weather last weekend. The series started off on the same wet note in a delayed twinbill that saw Todd Cooney of Des Moines and Mike Collins of Council Bluffs win features at Eagle, Neb., Raceway April 5-6.

Cooney will take the point lead to West Burlington. Boone McLaughlin of Mediapolis is three points off the pace and Mike Klinkkammer of West Liberty is five points out.
