Mother Nature strikes out DAVENPORT SPEEDWAY

DAVENPORT, IA (June 27) - For the third straight week, rain has washed out the racing program at the Davenport Speedway.
Although the method has been different each time the result has been the same for the water-logged racetrack.

Friday, June 13th, the speedway fell victim to the four-inch deluge that hammered Eastern Iowa. June 20th, a last minute shower after track preparation had been completed was the culprit. Today's races (June 27th) were canceled by morning showers that made the racing surface unworkable.

Weather permitting, racing action will return to the Davenport Speedway next Friday, July 4th. The races that evening are sponsored by the movie, SPEED RACER: The IMAX Exprience, now playing at the IMAX Threatre in Davenport.

The movie, SPEED RACER, is playing a limited engagement the IMAX Threatre, now through July 17th. SPEED RACER follows the adventures of young racecar driver Speed in his quest for glory, in the thunderous Mach 5. The film stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, and Susan Sarandon. For showtimes, please contact the Putnam Museum/ IMAX Theatre or visit www.putnam.org .
