Davenport Speedway Returns to Action

DAVENPORT, IA (August 7) - Exciting stock car racing returns to the Davenport Speedway this Friday, August 8th.

The quarter-mile dirt oval has not seen racing action since July 22nd, due to the Mississippi Valley Fair. The last official points night at the Davenport Speedway was July 11th.

This Friday will also begin the final push towards the 2008 track championships. Champions in all six weekly classes will be determined at the season finale, August 22nd.

In IMCA. Late Model action, Boone McLaughlin of Mediapoils, leads Mike Murphy Jr. (Colona, Ill.) by seven points. Each driver has one feature win at Davenport this season.

In the Pro Mod class, Moline's Thad Wilson a slim two point lead over Bettendorf's Bob Dominacki. John Bull, also from Moline, is third in track points.

On the strength of his three feature wins this season, Big Rock, Iowa's Kelly Meyer has a commanding lead in the Kimberly Dodge B-Modified division. Pat Fennelly of Davenport, is second in points.

Davenport's Cary Brown is on top of the B&C Auto Salvage Street Stock class. Jeremy Marquette and Donnie Louck are tied for second, sixteen points back.

Jeremy Meyer has a 4-point lead over Dennis Begyn in the INEX Legend Car division. Wade Dahl leads Chris Zrostlik by eighteen points in the CradhedToys.com 4 Stocks.

Stock car racing action begins at 6:30pm Friday nights at the Davenport Speedway.
