WDRL POINTS BATTLE TO BE DECIDED AT THE PRESTIGIOUS “IOWA GOVERNORS CUP”

DAVENPORT, IA (Sept. 29) - When the WORLD Dirt Racing League pulls in to the Davenport Speedway this Friday for the 23rd running of the prestigious “Iowa Governors Cup” Wisconsin driver John Kaanta will have a one point lead over Iowa driver Chad Simpson.

John Kaanta and Chad Simpson are both excited about the coming weekend and looking forward to racing for the Championship.

It’s only fitting that the WDRL points Champion be determined at a race with the stature of the “Iowa Governors Cup”. This is one of the most, if not the most, prestigious races and title in the state of Iowa. To tie it together with the WDRL Championship is fantastic said WDRL owner, Jim Wilson. “I have followed the Governors Cup every year for a long time and have been impressed with the quality of cars and the different winners of this race over the years”.

After the entire season, the point’s battle will come to an end as will the season for the WORLD Dirt Racing League. This Saturday night at the Davenport Speedway the 60 lap “Iowa Governors Cup” will reward the winner with a $10,000.00 payday.

Stuart Motorsports is promoting the Iowa Governors Cup and has put together an impressive schedule for the fans and race teams.

The “Iowa Governors Cup” will get underway on Friday October 3rd with qualifying for 6 classes of cars at 6:30 PM including the WORLD Dirt Racing League Late Models.

Saturday afternoon at 4pm the fans will enjoy a drivers autograph session from all classes of cars including the WDRL drivers that have qualified for the “Iowa Governors Cup” race.

Saturday night the fans will see 6 classes of Feature racing on Saturday night. All of the qualifying and heat races will have been completed on Friday night and earlier on Saturday afternoon.

The 4-Cylinders, B-Modifeds, Street Stocks, Modifieds, and IMCA Late Models will run their A-Feature races on the ¼ mile track.

The WDRL Late Models will cap off the evening with a 60 Lap, $10,000.00 to win “Iowa Governors Cup” on the super fast ½ mile track.
