Campbell Makes It 3 In a Row as Mohr and Crampton Double Up
By: Ed Potter

MAQUOKETA, IOWA (May 22, 2010) - It was a beautiful night for racing Saturday and Jackson County Speedway had a great show.  After winning the second 4-Stock heat race Rob Harding led the first lap of the feature with Lane Vohringer taking over and leading lap two.  On lap three Jeremy Campbell went to the front and never looked back as he went on for his third straight win on four races.  On the white flag lap Jake Ellithorpe moved in to take second.  Vohringer held on for third with Harding holding on to fourth.  Scott Booth rounded out the top five.  Chris Holmlund won the other heat but had to retire with mechanical problems in the feature.

Joe Grant jumped out front of the Hobby Stock feature and led for two laps, when Gene Ehlers folled his car.  On th restart there was an eight car pile-up on the back straight, including Grant.  Nearly half the field was forced to retire to the pit area with damage.  On the restart Bruce Yoerger went to the front and led the following caution free ten laps to take his first victory of the year.  Sheldon Hunter came from his thirteenth starting spot to take second.  First heat winner, Cameron Sorgenfrey made a last lap move to take third over Nate Yoerger’s fourth and Josh Neal’s fifth.  Shawn Flagel took the other heat win but was among the cars retired in the big pile-up.

Pole sitter, Dave Bielenberg led the first lap of the IMCA Modified feture with first heat winner, Jake Waterman taking over on lap two.  After lap two a four car pile-up in turn three which included second heat winner, Kelly Meyer rolling his car, brought out the first caution.  On the restart Waterman went back to the front and despite three more cautions held on for his first Jackson County Speedway victory this year.  Jerry Pratt was a strong second with Cory Bauer moving in to take third on the last lap.  Keith Feller was fourth with Matt Wilson fifth.  Terry Rentfro was the other heat winner, but was one of the cars involved in the four car pile-up earlier in the race.

The Street Stock feature went flag to flag caution free with pole siter Jed Holland leading lap one.  Mitch Schmitz moved out front to lead lap two with first heat winner, Dan Mohr taking over on lap three.  Mohr went on to take his second win of the season.  Schmitz held on for second followed by Shane Oberbrockling, Emily Gade, and second heat winner, Kevin Brame, in that order.

The Gade Racing Engines/Shirts ‘n’ Stuff Pro Modified feture also went caution freee and had pole sitter Jake Bowman take the early lead with first heat winner, Ray Cox Jr taking over on lap five.  Bowman soon was retired to the infield with mechanical woes.  At lap sixteen second heat winner, Doug Crampton went to the front and on to his second trip to victory lane this year.  Cox held on for second with Bart Miller third.  Timmy Curent was fourth over Nick Nevins’ fifth.

Second heat winner and front row starter, Cory Goldbeck snatched the early lead of the B & D Pit Stop IMCA Late Model feature with Terry Neal going out front on lap six.  The races only caution flew at lap thirteen and on the restart Neal stayed out front.  On lap fifteenRay Guss Jr moved into second, but after some contact with Goldbeck one lap later went through the infield grass in turn one dropping him to seventh.  Neal went on for his first win of the year with Goldbeck second.  Bryan Klein was third with first heat winner, Doug Nigh taking fourth.  Guss worked his way back up to round ouot the top five.
