JULY 1ST LIBERTY CUP NEXT UP FOR HAWKEYE DIRT TOUR
By: Jeff Werderman

DONNELLSON, IOWA (June 29) - The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds will invade the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA on July 1, 2010.

It's the third annual Liberty Cup featuring two $1,000 to win events. The fourth race of 2010 for the HDT Modifieds will be raced along with the final night of the IMCA Great American Stock Car Series. Both main events will pay $1,000 to the winner.

Josh Foster (Montrose, IA) is one of the favorites for the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour stop in Donnellson. Foster is the defending IMCA Modified track champion there, and he is the current HDT points leader.

Rich Smith (Davenport, IA) sits third in HDT points, and he is expected to be a front runner on July 1st. Smith is the 2007 Lee County Speedway IMCA Modified champion and finished second to Foster in 2009.

Richie Gustin (Gilman, IA) finds himself fifth in HDT points heading to Donnellson. Gustin has had a great start to the 2010 racing season and is a threat every night he unloads his modified. He is seventh in IMCA Modified National Points, second in the IMCA North Central Region, and currently leads the Positivelyracing.com All-Iowa points.

Jeff Waterman (Quincy, IL) is the most recent winner on the HDT. Waterman grabbed just his second career IMCA Modified win over a stacked field in Cresco, and he runs weekly at Lee County.

All are expected in the pit area on July 1st at the Lee County Speedway. Also expected: Mark Schulte, Ron Pope, Michael Long, Jason Snyder, Vern Jackson, Mark Elliott, Andy Krieger, Bill Roberts, and several other drivers.

Pre-Tech for the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour IMCA Modifieds begins at 4:00 PM. Grandstands open at 5:30 PM. Hot laps are set for 7:00 PM with the Specialty Technologies Heat Races to follow. Pit passes are $25 and grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $7 for students (ages 11-17), and 10 and under are free.

The car entry fee for the HDT-IMCA Modified is $50. Membership into the HDT is $40 (one time annual fee). A driver is allowed to compete at one HDT event in 2010 without having to join the HDT.
