ELDON RACEWAY CHECKERS TO BANKS, KIRKPATRICK, MCDANIEL AND WALKER

ELDON, IOWA (July 17) - The third race of the 2010 was held Saturday night sponsored by Coca Cola Bottling of Ottumwa with heat index well over 100 degrees the action was a hot as the temperatures.

The first feature of the night was the A-modifieds with Brandon Banks of Washington taking the early lead and never looked back and lead all fourteen laps for the win. Steven Blattler of Oskaloosa tried several times to close the gap but settled for the runner-up spot with Greg Cox of Altoona taking the third spot with Charles Baker in fourth.

The four cylinder feature was red flagged in the first lap with Kevin Link going airborne on the backstretch after making contact with Michael Guthrie. Action was stopped for ten minutes and all drivers was okay but not there machines. When action resumed Larry Hopkins of Ottumwa and Cassidy Kirkpatrick of Ottumwa swapped the lead. Kirkpatrick would lead the final four laps for the win. Dennis Allen of Agency would make the pass for second and took the runner-up spot with Hopkins in third and Jim Garrett in fourth.

The hobby stock feature saw twenty-seven cars take the green and the first lap a caution would fly for Kim Speas of Selma losing a left rear wheel. When action resumed Don Nunnikhoven of Sully and Kris Walker of Oskaloosa going wheel-to-wheel for the lead with Walker making the pass and held off several challenges. The red flag would fly on lap nine for Jimmy Hayes of Moravia getting up on the turn three and four wall. The twenty minute time limit would expire and the feature went green, white and checkered with Walker taking the win followed by Nunnikhoven in second and Danny Thrasher of Agency in third and Tony Teninity of Eldon in fourth.

The final feature was the b-mods with Jason McDaniel of Eldon take the green flag and pace the field thru all fourteen laps and held off Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa who tried many things but settled for second. The battle for the third spot between Bill Gibson of Knoxville and Carter Vandenberg of Oskaloosa with Gibson in third and Vandenberg in fourth.

The next race at the super-half mile will be September 17th and 18th for the fall special with racing action at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday racing at 6:30pm.
