By: Larry Bontz

WEST LIBERTY, IOWA (August 21) - Second generation driver Jeff Guengerich passed Jay Chenoweth on lap ten, then lead the remaining fifteen laps in convincing fashion as he won the twenty five lap IMCA late model season championship here at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds West Liberty Raceway Saturday night. Guengerich who started sixth on the grid was a rocketship throughout. The win for the seventeen year veteran from Washington, Iowa was his second of the season overall. Colby Springsteen who started eighth finished second, Dale Stolte came from ninth to third, Stephen Kammerer fifth to fourth, with Matt Ryan from thirteenth to fifth.

Another second generation driver joined the winners circle saturday night as Steve Stewart started on the pole of the Gustaf Engine and Machine open wheel modified feature and lead the twenty lapper in its entirety for his first win of the season in this division.Stewart drove a flawless race throughout, and was followed across the line by Noah Coppess in second,Ryan Dolan third, point leader fast Larry Herring fourth with JohnnySpaw fifth.

The Kile Motorsports fifteen lap stock car feature had three different leaders and once again for the fourteenth time proved the same winner Matt Greiner.Scotty Pratt lead laps one through five,David Brandies laps six through twelve, and it appeared Brandies might have an edge persay, however a bobble in turn two on lap thirteen was al Greiner needed to move around for the lead and the ensuing victory.David Brandies was second,Scotty Pratt third,Greg Gill fourth, with Cody Harris fifth.

Young Zack Less usually races two cars with us and a and a b-mod,however in a tight points race in the bmod division with points leader Brad Tyler he stuck to the b-mod tonight and it pid off as he grabbed the lead from Skip Erwin on lap seven and went on to capture his second Spenler Tire B-Modified feature win of the season.Brad Tyler was second,Phillip Beard third,Jason Speers fourth, with Skip Erwin fifth.
