Chad Simpson Wins Third Yankee Triumph

FARLEY, IOWA (September 18) - Chad Simpson grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back enroute to capturing his biggest payday of his young racing career capturing his third Yankee Dirt Track Classic win and a whopping $15,000 first place prize. Simpson who had earlier in the evening won the six lap dash started on the pole of the hundered lapper with crane Missouris' Will Vaulght along side at the outsetSeveral laps later Brian Birkhofer A 2002 winner of this coveted event replaced Vaulght for second place setting his sights on leader Simpson for first.Simpson get Birkhofer at bay throughout and after the halfway mark wicked lightning to the west of the race track let race officials know that threatening weather would proibably curtail this one. Another ten laps were ran before veteran flagman Doug Haack concurred with other track officials amking it felt after seventy eight laps the racuing surface had gone away,and Simpson was crowned the winner for a third time..The 2009 and 2010 Dart Corn Belt Clash Champion enjoyed the richest payday of his young late model career with the $15,000 top prize.Brian Birkhofer was second,,Will Vaught third,Dennis Erb Jr. fourth,Brian Harris who changed a tire and came from the rear of the pack to run fifth,Chris Simpson,who came from the Chiefs Pump Service last chance race to run sixth,John Anderson finished seventh,Jason Rauen eighth,Curt Martin ninth,with Keith Foss tenth.Chad Simpson won the dash over Will Vaught,Brian Birkhofer,Curt Martin,Kurt Kile and Dan Shelliam.Kerry Hansen and Chris Simpson finished one two in the Chiefs Pump Service last chance race to fill out the last two spots in the twenty four car spot starting grid.

Brad Dierks moved around Larry Herring after a restart and went on to capture the twenty five lap a modified feature here Saturday night. Herring the 2010 West Liberty raceway track champion,started on the pole of the main event by virtue of winning the trophy dash.After a late race caution Dierks got around Herring for the lead a lea he would never relinquish motoring on for the win. Jeff Larson finished second,Larry Herring was third,Bruce Hanford fourth,with Jason Schueller coming from the rear of the pack early in the race to place fifth. Chris Zogg was victorious in the last chance race.

The stock car portion a main was rained out on Saturday night was to be run on Sunday and that was rained out as well and will be ran along with the race em an wreck em program at the speedway on the 26th.The dash ran on Saturday night was won by Matt Greiner over Scotty Pratt,Corey Rupp,Mark Massey,Jerry Miles,and Jerry Merkes.
