USRA to sanction four classes at Upper Iowa Speedway in 2011

DECORAH, Iowa (December 15, 2010) - The Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa, has joined the USRA family of member tracks for the 2011 racing season.

Located at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds, weekly racing will feature USRA RHS Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks as part of the Saturday night line-up at the high-banked quarter-mile dirt oval.

This will be the first season that the USRA RHS Modifieds will compete as part of the regular weekly program at the facility, with drivers battling throughout the season for a track points championship worth $1,500 at season’s end.

Competitors in the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car division will vie for a track title worth $600, while the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will be chasing a $500 top prize.

In addition to track points funds which are among the highest in the county, the USRA will also dole out a national points fund of more than $60,000 in four classes.

Hornets and 600 Mod Lites will also join the racing card with rotating appearances each week.

The season opener is slated for Saturday, April 16, with racing getting underway at 6:30 p.m.

Promoters Chuck and Todd Ihde recently announced that RACEceivers will be required in all USRA-sanctioned classes by June 1. RACEceivers may be purchased for $119 at the NAPA Auto Parts store located at 414 Montgomery Street in Decorah.

The Upper Iowa Speedway is located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1 mile northwest on Montgomery Street in Decorah.
