DART CORN BELT CLASH OPENER AT DEER CREEK POSTPONED
Heavy rains in southern Minnesota wash out opener for second week in a row

By Tom Lathen

WEST UNION, IA (April 23, 2011) - For the second weekend in a row, the season opener for the Dart Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series has fallen to inclimate weather.

Snowfall earlier in the week, followed by heavy rains on Friday forced the postponement of Saturday night’s scheduled CBC opener at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota.

“We are looking at a number of possible dates to reschedule the Podein's Power & Equipment 40 at Deer Creek Speedway,” commented series founder and Director Cam Granger.  “Our hope is that we can find a date sometime in May which would still allow The Creek to host our season opener.”

I’m not sure what we’ve done to upset ‘Mother Nature’, “added Granger.  “But this spring hasn’t been very kind to the series.  Hopefully we can get through this stretch of cool and wet weather and have a great 2011 season.”

The Dart Corn Belt Clash, in its third season of existence, has approximately 20 race dates in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska on its 2011 schedule.  Mount Vernon, Iowa’s Chad Simpson is the defending series champion.
