DUBUQUE, IA (May 15, 2011) - Excellent track conditions, made for excellent racing, and for the Pioneer Rest Area Spring Championship 35 lap IMCA Late model feature would be hard pressed to find one better than the one witnessed here at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Speedway Sunday night. Dubuque driver Jim Brokus started on the pole and quickly vaulted into the lead and was well on his way with a group of drivers in hot pursuit; Terry Neal, Ray Guss Jr., Luke Merfeld, Dan Shelliam, Luke Goedert, and Brian Harris all viaing for the top six seven positions throughout. Brokus lead through lap thirty two when Brian Harris moved his car to the top spot but his ride to the top would be short lived as he got into the front stretch wall damaging the front end then going down the bacstretch got into the backstretch wall ending his night after a hard fought run. This set up a double front row of Terry Neal on the pole and Jim Brokus on the outside on the restart. Neal grabbed the lead and lead the remaining lap for his third IMCA late model win of the young season. Ray Guss Jr. who fell back to as far as fourth early on came back to finish second, Luke Merfeld in a stellar run was third, Jim Brokus a hard fought run fourth, with hard charging Joel Callahan coming all the way from the rear of the pack after a lap one wreck finishing fifth. Veteran Ron Barker grabbed the lead at the outset then survived several caution flags to win the Dubuque Moving and Storage IMCA Type Modified twenty lap featute his second win of the young season. Tony Von Drezky was second, Mark Schulte third, J.D.Auringer fourth, with Ron Lauritzen fifth. Timmy Current charged to the front at the outset then motored on for his third win of the season leading the twelve SPI Stock Car feature from flag to flag. Joe Bonney was second, Jerry Miles third, Wayne Hora fourth, with Rob Gonzales fifth. Hotter than hot John Flury lead the IMCA Type Sport Compacts from flag to flag for his third win of the season.Bryce Garnhart was second,Gabe Schrader third,Jacob Ellethorpe fourth,with Ryan Schilling fifth. Picking up where he left off from last year the only thing that has changed is the name of the class but the end result is the same for this driver as Jeremy Campbell won the twelve lap IMCA Type Hobby Stock Feature for his first win of the season. Brandon Beschen was second, Mick Weidemeier third, Kyle Vohlinger fourth with Andy Burk fifth. The IMCA Type Sport Mod Class was lead by rookie driver Cory Tharp who has two wins so far in this young season as he has made the tow from Cedar Falls a succesful one leading the twelve lapper from flag to flag.Lady driver and college student Hope Schmerebach placed second,Craig Ehnke third,with Travis Winters fourth.
