5 New Winners at Jackson County
By Ed Potter

MAQUOKETA, IA (May 21, 2011) - S. C. Oberbreckling Construction & Excavating came into Jackson County Speedway Saturday to sponsor the nights racing action and Kids Night bike races.  And what a great night of racing action it was.  To start things off on a wonderfully prepared racing surface was the Hobby Stock feature.  Second heat winner, Justin Yarolem used his front row starting spot and jumped into the lead on the drop of the green.  By lap five, fourteenth place starter, Nate Yoerger was up putting the pressure on.  As the two ran side by side, Yaerger edged out front to lead lap seven with Yarolem coming back on lap eight.  On lap nine it was Yoerger again and he held on for the victory with Yarolem a close second.  Nate’s father, Bruce Yoerger was third with Sheldon Hunter fourth and Kile Vohringer fifth.

First Gade Racing Engines/Shirts’n’Stuff IMCA Modified heat winner and feature pole sitter, Doug Crampton was the early leader of the feature with third heat winner, Brian Webb coming from fifth to take over on lap nine.  With three laps to go the races only caution flew, and it was for the leader.  The restart saw Crampton and Thad Wilsonin a double front row.  Wilson moved out front and went on for the win.  Crampton held on for second with Jake Waterman third.  Tenth place starter, Dan Chapman took fourth over Joe Beal’s fifth.  In his heat race Josh Wilson rolled his car off turn four and was taken in for a check up and observation.

After winning the Straight Pipes Plus second heat race, Joe Bonney used his pole starting spot to lead the single caution feature flag to flag for the win.  The second two thirds of the race he had to hold off the challenges of second place finisher, Timmy Current.  Dan Mohr was third with Mike Driscoll fourth and Emily Gade fifth.

Another racer to use his pole starting spot to his full advantage was Stephan Kammerer in the B & D Pit Stop IMCA Late Model feature as he led all twenty-five laps for the victory.  First heat winner, Tery Neal chased him across the line the first lap with Joe Ross taking over second on lap two.  At lap five second heat 1inner, Nate Beuseling moved up to second and held it until the end.  Ray Guss Jr was third with Ross holding on for fourth and Neal fifth.

Jon Muller led the first lap of the Hawkeye Auto 4 Stock feature with Brandon Jewell taking over on lap two.  On lap five Mitch Bielenberg moved out front, but was forced to retire three laps later with mechanical woes.  Thes set up a three car battle for the number one spot until the end.  Chris Holmlund led lap eight with Jake Montoya leading lap nine.  Lap ten saw Jeke Ellithorpe edge out front.  At lap eleven these three came across the line three wide with Montoya holding a slight edge.  The checkers fell withEllithorpe taking the win over Montoya and Holmlund.  Andy Wagener was fourth with Lukas Short rounding out the top 5.

Don’t forget next weekend the IMCA Modified Shootout races with forty lap features paying two thousand dollars to win.  Leg one will be at Davenport Speedway Friday evening with leg two coming to Jackson County Speedway Saturday evening.
