Klein, Barker, Current, Campbell, Sherbon, Garnhart Post Sunday Night Victories At Dubuque

DUBUQUE, IA (May 22, 2011) - Threatening weather hit the area here Sunday evening before the stock car heat races were to be run but the drivers ironed the track in and racing went off without a hitch here Sunday night at the Dubuque county fairgrounds speedway. Brian Klein notched his first IMCA late model feature victory of the season leading the last nine laps of the twenty five lapper for the win for the third year driver.

Terry Neal lead the first  fifteen laps but brought out the first caution when he had a flat while leading.Brian Klein grabbed the lead on the restart and lead the next four laps until Jim Brokus brought out the next caution sitting on the backstretch on lap nineteen.klein still leading it was a real dogfight for second now between Joel Callahan,Terry Neal and Dan Shelliam and at the checkers it was Brian Klein your winner,Joel Callahan second,Terry Neal third,Dan Shelliam fourth,with Jon Merfeld fifth.

Veteran Ron Barker grabbed the lead from Dustin Wilwert on the eight lap and motored on for his fourth feature win of the 2011 racing campaign for the thirty four year racing veteran.The win for Barker was his second of the weekend as hes was victorious at farley on friday night.Mark Schulte placed second,Jason Schuler was third,Tony Von Drezky fourth,and J.D.Auringer all the way from the rear to fifth.

Timmy Current passed Wane Hora on the third lap,then lead the remaining twelve laps to win the fifteen lap SPI Stock Car Feature his fourth win of the year. Terry Rittmer was second,Wayne Hora third ,Jerry Miles fourth,Jared Franzen fifth Lee Kinsella w  on his first ever IMCA TYPE Hobby Stock feature but his victory was short lived because after post race inspection his race car was found to have an illegal intake giving the win to second place finisher Jeremy Campbell.Nick Widemeier was second,Rod Chapman third,Brandon Beschen fourth,with Andy Burke fifth.

In the IMCA Type Sport Mod Division Josh Sherbon first time to the track made it a succesful one as he won both his heat and twelve lap feature in convincing fashion leading from flag to flag. Cory Tharp finished second, Hope Schmerebach was third Craig Ehnke fourth, with Josh Becker fifth. Next Sunday night may 29th the INEX Legend Cars will race at Dubuque for the next two Sundays.
