Cox and Montoya Get First Wins
by Ed Potter

MAQUOKETA, IA (June 18, 2011) - J. C. Dubil Race Cars and Parts sponsored Saturday’s racing action at Jackson County Speedway this week and had tropies, caps and T shirts for all the feature winners.  They also had giveaways at the front gate while they lasted.  The nights racing action saw three cars roll in three separate races.  The good news was all three drivers were OK.  Josh Neal used his front row starting spot to take the lead of the Ricky Rox Mobile DJ Service Hobby Stock feature on lap one and never let up as he led flag to flag for his second win of the year.  The last four laps he had to hold off the challenges of second place finisher, Kile Vohringer.  Matt Short was third with Joe Grant coming from eighth to take fourth.  Ben Carpenter was fifth.

Pole sitter, Keith Feller took the early lead of the Gade Racing Engines/Shirts’n’Stuff IMCA Modified feature, but a fourth lap restart had tenth place starter, Joe Beal take over the point.  At the mid-race point while running sixth, Matt Irwin rolled his car off turn four.  One lap after the restart fourteenth place starter, Ray Cox Jr went around Beal, and on for his first victory of the season.  Beal held on for second as twentieth place starter, Doug Crampton was third.  Ben Traver took fourth over twelfth place starter, Matt Stein’s fifth.

Jed Holland took the early lead of the Straight Pipes Plus Street Stock feature with Joe Bonney taking over on a third lap restart.  Bonney cruised on for his second trip to victory lane this season with Emily Gade taking second.  Holland held on for third followed by Dan Mohr and Timmy Current, in that order.

Kirk Caes led the first lap of the B & D Pit Stop IMCA Late Model feature with Luke Pestka taking over on lap two.  At lap six Brian Meiners rolled his car off turn four and on the restart it was Pestka back out front with Doug Nigh putting the pressure on.  One lap later the caution flew again and on the restart it was tenth place starter, Terry Neal going by to take over the lead.  A lap seventeen restart had eleventh place starter, Ray Guss Jr move into second, but that’s what he had to settle for as Neal went on for his second victory of the season.  Nigh held on for third with Pestka fourth by inches over Gary Webb’s fifth.

Race Neal made his first trip to Jackson County Speedway this year and rolled his car in his heat race in the Hawkeye Auto 4 Stock division, but he made the feature call.  Andy Wagener grabbed the early lead of the feature and looked to have things pretty well in control.  By the mid-race point it became a three car battle up front with wagener still out front.  On the last lap coming off turn four the front three cars came to the checkers three wide with Jake Montoya edging out to take his first win this year.  Wagener was second with Jake Ellithorpe third.  Chris Holmlund and Mitch Bielenberg rounded out the top five.
