Deery Series travels to Independence for inaugural Red Dralle Memorial June 29

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 23, 2011) – One of IMCA’s longest tenured drivers will be remembered at Independence Motor Speedway’s inaugural Red Dralle Memorial Deery Brothers Summer Series event on Wednesday, June 29.

The IMCA Late Model tour event pays $5,004 to win. Four dollars will be added to each driver’s payout in recognition of Dralle’s last car number. The main event distance will be 84 laps, for his first car number.

Dralle, from Waterloo, died last October at the age of 69. He compiled 21 weekly wins at Independence from 1971 to 2003. Dralle also qualified for 39 Deery features during his career, including all 17 shows in 1990. Eight of his tour feature starts came at Indee.

Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 11 and under accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $25.

Red’s Limo Service and the Dralle family sponsor the program, which also includes the final World Products Great American Stock Car Series $1,000 to win show and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in a $500 to win feature.

More information about the June 29 card is available from promoter Cam Granger at 563 380-0665 or 319 334-9287 on race day.

In conjunction with the Independence event, the first ‘Partnering For A Purpose’ cookout will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. that day at Dan Deery Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Waterloo.

Proceeds of sales of Deery Series T-shirts during the cookout will be donated to Karsyn’s Krusaders, a cancer prevention and family support organization the Deery Brothers dealerships are sponsoring this season.
