Three New Faces Visit Victory Lane
by:  Ed Potter

MAQUOKETA, IA (July 9, 2011) - It was a great night for racing Saturday at Jackson County Speedway and Kile Motorsports was on hand to present the accolades to the feature winners.  Three drivers made their first trips to victory lane of this year as two winners were repeaters.  The first new winner of the night came in the Ricky Rox Mobile DJ Service Hobby Stock division.  Mike McGarry took the early lead, but Shawn Flagel moved out front on lap three.  Flagel went on for his first win of the season.  Matt Short came from his twelfth place starting spot to take second as McGarry held on for third.  Justin Yarolem was fourth with Joe Grant righ;t on his heels for fifth.

Pole sitter, Cory Bauer jumped out front of the caution free Gade Racing Engines/Shirts’n’Stuff IMCA Modified feture on the drop of the green.  At the mid race point Dan Klatt moved out front bringing Ben Traver with him.  With three laps to go Traver got by and went on for his first Jackson County victory of the year.  On the white flag lap Ray Cox Jr moved in to take second and on the last lap Bob Dominacki moved up for third.  Klatt held on for fourth with Kelly Meyer fifth.

In the Straight Pipes Plus Street Stock heat race poor Kevin Yarolem rolled his race car for the second week in a row.  Kevin was OK but did not make the feature call.  Jed Holland led the first two laps of the feature when the races only caution flew.  On the restart it was Timmy Current taking over with Chip Kohl right beside him.  At lap five Kohl moved out front and sailed on for his first win of the year.  Current held on for second with Joe Bonney third after being involved in the races early caution.  Kerry Dake was a strong fourth with Shane Oberbreckling taking fifth.

The twenty-five lap B & D Pit Stop IMCA Late Model feature ran with only one caution which flew at lap three.  Pole Sitter, Bart Miller snatched the early lead with Gary Webb right there on his heels.  On lap six Terry Neal worked byand by lap seventeen they were into lap traffic.  Neal went on for his third victory this season.  With four laps to go Stephan Kammerer moved in to take second bringing third place finisher, Ray Guss Jr with him.  Miller held on for fourth with Webb fifth.

Clarence Merrick led the Hawkeye Auto 4 Stock feature flag to flag and appeared to have his first win of the year.  The only problem was in post race inspection his car was found to be illegal and he was disqualified.  This gave the win to Jake Montoya for his second win of the year.  Lukas Short was second followed by Chris Holmlund, Rob Harding Sr. and Robbie Harding Jr, in that order.
