Dominacki 3-Peats in Davenport Mods
by  Mike McGuire

DAVENPORT, Ia. (July 15, 2011) – Beautiful weather and great racing were in surplus at the Davenport Speedway, Friday, for Kile Motorsports Night. Victory lane saw two repeat winners, one three-peat winner, and a new but familiar face before the night was over.

The Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature saw veteran racer Leroy Brenner lead the first nineteen laps after starting on the outside of the front row. On lap twenty, Nate Bueseling, who started mid-pack, finally got inside Brenner and led the remaining laps to take the checkered flag. The win was his second of the season at Davenport.

Jeff Stevens would also get by Brenner in the final laps to take second, with Brenner finishing third. Marty Diercks would finish fourth, ahead of Ray Guss Jr., in fifth. Stevens and Terry Neal were IMCA Late Model heat winners.

Bob Dominacki stayed perfect for the month of July at the Davenport Speedway. Dominacki scored his third straight win in the EMS IMCA Modified division. Dominacki took the lead after a lap four restart and led the rest of the way to the checkers. The win was Bob’s fourth of the season.

Mitch Morris was the only driver to get close to Dominacki, finishing second, about ten car lengths behind. Doug Crampton, John Ahlers, and Joe Beal completed the top five, in that order. Modified heat wins went to Morris, Ahlers, and Joe Jones Jr.

Jeremy Marquette racked up his fifth feature win in eight races in the Koehler Electric Street Stock class. His fifth victory was far from an easy one. Four other drivers held the race lead before the race boiled down to a battle between Marquette and RJ Gonzales.

The two raced side-by-side for several laps. Marquette finally started to pull away in the final laps for the win. Gonzales held on for second, with Chris Lawrence third, Emily Gade fourth, and Jerry Pratt fifth.

Joe Zrostlik rolled his #z50 out of the mothballs and once again found the winner’s circle. Zrostlik started tenth in the Lujacks 4 Stock feature and by lap four had found the lead. Zrostlik cruised to an easy win, while the battle was going on behind him for second.

Luke Thurness emerged from the pack to the position, over Gene Potter, who finished third. Point leader Wade Dahl was fourth with Ken Poole fifth.

Next Friday, July 22nd, is the final race at the Davenport Speedway, before the break for the Mississippi Valley Fair.
