MONTICELLO, IA (July 23, 2011) - For the first time in four years promoter Jerry Blue was able to finally have a racing program here Sunday afternoon during the running of the Jones County Fair here in Monticello, Iowa. In the modified division veteran and hometown driver Gus hughes passed ealy leader Johnny Spaw on the tenth circuit then lead the remaining five laps for his second feature victory of the season. This race today was Gus Hughes thirtieth Jones County Fair Race. Mark Schulte fresh off a win at west liberty last night finished second, Johnny Spaw third, Ron Barker fourth, with Zack Less fifth. Gus Hughes and Mark Schulte posted heat race wins. Wayne Hora grabbed the lead at the dropf the green flag and held off challenges from Corey Rupp in the end to capture his eight stock car feature victory of the season.Jerry Merkes was third,Chip Kohl finished fourh,with Mark Massey placing fifth.Mark Massey,Wayne Hora,and Cory Rupp posted heat race wins. Fast Joe Zrostlik started fourth,grabbed the lead at the outset and never looked back enroute to the ten lap four cylinder feature leading from flag to flag.Brandon Beschen went tothe pits changed a tire came from the rear to run second,John Flury third,Jake Montoya fourth,with Garnet Hanken fifth.Joe Zrostlik posted the heat race win.
