Hancock County Speedway to host Night of 1,000 Stars

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 7) – One of the richest IMCA Modified events of the season plays out this Thursday, Aug. 11 at Hancock County Speedway.

The Night of 1,000 Stars has the potential to pay more than $5,000 to the winner of the 17th annual Doug Studer Farms-sponsored special.

Along with a minimum of $3,000 to win, the event carries bonuses of $1,000 for leading on lap 25 and for having finished in the top five at any previous sanctioned Modified event this season at Britt. Lap money will also be paid.

Thirty cars will start the 50-lapper, which pays a minimum of $200 to qualify. The Night of 1,000 Stars is a qualifying event for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

Tow money is $100. The driver making the longest tow will also be reimbursed for their entry fee and one pit pass.

The winner’s share of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car purse has been upped to $500. A draw/redraw format will be in place for both divisions and IMCA national, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded.

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m., with racing to follow.

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and five and under will be admitted free. Pit passes are $30.
