IMCA National Late Model Title

DAVENPORT, Iowa (September 1, 2011) – For the second straight year, Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., is the National IMCA Late Model Champion. Guss also repeated as track champion at Davenport Speedway, Jackson County Speedway and Quad City Speedway. 

Guss led all drivers in the division with 16 feature victories

National standings are based on drivers’ best 20 finishes out of their first 55 starts. Bonus points, equal to the average weekly car count at tracks holding a minimum of eight sanctioned events, are awarded to track champions. Guss got the maximum 20 points for his Davenport title.

Other 2011 track champions at the Davenport Speedway were: IMCA Modified - Bob Dominacki, Street Stock – Jeremy Marquette, and 4 Stock – Wade Dahl. 

The next race at the Davenport Speedway will be the All-Star Classic on Friday, September 9th. The event will be held on the historic Davenport half-mile track. Highlighting the racing program at the All-Star Classic will be the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. 

IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4 Stocks will also be racing at the All-Star Classic. IMCA Modifieds will run a 20-lap feature paying $800-to-win. The Street Stock feature will be 15-laps, paying $500-to-win. The 4-Stock main will be 12-laps, with $250-to-win. 

IMCA Late Models will have a $50 entry fee for the All-Star Classic, Mods $35, and Street Stocks $20. There is no entry fee for the 4-Stocks. 

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street, in Davenport. Pit gates at The Davenport Speedway open at 4:00 p.m., with the grandstand opening at 5:30. Hot laps are at 6:30pm and racing starts at 7pm.
