DUBUQUE, IA (September 4, 2011) - The largest car count of the season 108 greeted the fans here sunday evening as the racing season has drawn to a close for SPI on the 2011 racing campaign at the Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway. In the IMCA late model division extra money brought in extra cars twenty four, racing for extra laps forty the feature paid 1500 to win and Joel Callahan had his racer working to perfection as once he got the lead, he was off to the races and went onto capture the main event in fine fashion. Dan Shelliam placed second, Jim Brokus was third. Luke Goedert fourth, with Jon Merfeld coming from the rear to place fifth. Terry Neal for the second consecutive year was the IMCA late model track champion. In the IMCA type 20 lap Modified feature event J.D. Auringer jumped into the early lead and lead throughout to capture the twenty lap a main event. Auringer held off a hard charging 2011 track champion Ron Barker who finished second, Matt Gansen was third, Matt Christ fourth, with Tony VonDresky fifth. In the SPI Stock Car division Wayne Hora notched his eleventh win of the year with his win here sunday night but m8ore importantly notched track championship number two for the 2011 racing season for the Anamosa, Iowa driver. Terry Rittmer was second, Joe Bonney third, Jerry Miles fourth, with Randy Exline fifth. In the IMCA type Hobby Stock division Nick Widemeier got the twelve lap victory and with that win also notched his first ever track championship. Jeremy Campbell was second, Robbie Clifon third, Andy Burke fourth, with Rod Chapman fifth.. The largest IMCA Sport Mod car count of the season nineteen of em where on hand and James Aschenbrenner did what hes done best before here at dubuque put his racer in victory lane. Jason Robbins was second, Austin Moyer third,Hope Schmerebach fourth, and with tnis fourth place finish Hope is the 2011 IMCA type Sport Mod Track Champion.. Jeff Schmidt placed fifth In the IMCA type Sport Compact feature Pat Quinn grabbed thje early lead and went on to capture his tentth feature of the season.
