Points battle heads to All-Star Classic at Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, Iowa (September 7, 2011) – When the Deery Brothers Summer Series visits the Davenport Speedway this Friday, September 9th, all eyes will be on a tight point battle for the series crown. The Deery Brothers race highlights the racing program at the All-Star Classic, which will be held on the historic Davenport half-mile oval. 

Heading into Davenport, Ray Guss Jr., of Milan, Illinois, leads by just three points over Andy Eckrich of Iowa City. Guss is the series’ defending champion, while Eckrich was the 2010 rookie of the year. 

The Deery Brothers race at Davenport is the third of five scheduled races in September and the third of this week. 

IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4 Stocks will also be racing at the All-Star Classic. IMCA Modifieds will be racing for  $800-to-win, with Street Stocks paying $500-to-win, and 4-Stocks $250-to-win. 

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street, in Davenport. Pit gates at The Davenport Speedway open at 4:00 p.m., with the grandstand opening at 5:30. Hot laps are at 6:30pm and racing starts at 7pm.
