Dollansky Outlasts Field to Win Arnold Motor Supply Shootout

Swindell finishes second after three way battle with Schatz and Kraig Kinser

SPENCER, IA (Sept. 16, 2011) — Even though he had plenty to worry about by being the promoter of the event, Craig Dollansky scored his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa. The Elk River, Minn. native promoted the Arnold Motor Supply Shootout for the fifth straight year and picked up his ninth win of the season in his Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim.

“Everytime you win it’s always a team effort,” said Dollansky. “We had some breaks fall our way and it’s always great to get a win and to get our ninth this year is really saying something. I felt like I gave one away at Antioch (Speedway) on Monday and it was a long ride back from California thinking about it. My guys did an awesome job building a new car without a whole lot of time since we tore one up. I just can’t thank everyone enough that helps us out from Big Game Treestands to Aggressive Hydraulics to Aeroquip and Karavan Trailers.”

Dollansky had to charge through the field after starting the main even from the 7th position. The front row duo of Donny Schatz and Bill Rose led early on with Schatz taking command from laps 1-11 with Rose taking over from laps 12-15. Dollansky powered past Rose in lap traffic to grab the lead which he held for the remainder of the race. A double file restart near the end of the race brought the field together once more but as the pack took off, it was determined that Schatz started too early and was penalized on the ensuing red flag that came out for Steve Kinser’s flip in turn one. With an accident on a double file restart, the field lined up and took the green with two laps to get in single file order.

The battle for second was red hot as Sammy Swindell made it three wide as he grabbed second.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a three wide finish at the line,” said Swindell, . “What a great night for Big Game Tree Stands to have the top-2 spots. We were coming towards the end. We had a good car all night and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Congratulations to Craig and his team.”

After the penalty, Schatz restarted with a vengeance.. Despite a wild finish, the four-time champion still pulled off a third place finish.

“These things happen,” said Schatz. “It’s racing and it happens. There’s not much you can do. We ran a good race tonight and came up short. We’ll be back.”

Kraig Kinser finished fourth in the event with local favorite Mark Dobmeier rounding out the top-5. Series points leader, Jason Meyers, set a new track record around the 3/8th’s mile speedway but crashed during the dash. The All-Start Performance/DDNi/Media-Tile team worked quickly and got the 2010 Champion back out in time for the main event. Meyers started 24th and drove his way to eighth to claim the nights KSE Hard Charger award.

The Outlaws now head north to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. for another $10,000 to win show on Saturday, September 17.

TIME TRIALS– Jason Meyers was the fastest qualifier around the three eighth’s mile oval with a time of 13.074seconds and earned five championship points. Also earning points were Craig Dollansky, Sammy SwindellMark Dobmeier and Jason Sides. It marked Meyers’s ninth Quick Time of the season.
