NASCAR Camping World Truck Series comes to Iowa Speedway

NEWTON, IA (Dec 18) - 2009 will be a "dream season" for Iowa Speedway and racing fans throughout the country with NASCAR's announcement it has awarded a Camping World Truck Series race to Iowa Speedway – and nobody is happier than former NASCAR Champion Rusty Wallace who calls the Iowa track "my second child."

Wallace, now a broadcast analyst and commentator for ABC/ESPN, also designed the state-of-the-art track now entering its third full season of racing. "We never expected in our wildest dreams to get the schedule we now have as quickly as it has developed. We are very grateful to NASCAR," Wallace said.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is scheduled for the evening of September 5, 2009. The race replaces an event originally scheduled for May 23, 2009 at Mansfield Motorsports Park.

"With the recently announced NASCAR Nationwide Series race and the highly successful NASCAR Camping World East and West Series races – combined with a world-class, Iowa Corn Indy 250 open wheel IndyCar race – the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rewards fans for the tremendous support they've given the track since the first race in 2006," Wallace stated. "In addition, NASCAR's top drivers like Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Junior, and all NASCAR's top teams and drivers have tested at Iowa Speedway, and have high praise for the track.. Their support has helped us get the NASCAR deals done because owners and drivers really make things happen."

Iowa Speedway Chief Executive Officer Stan Clement, who teamed up with Wallace to negotiate the NASCAR contract praised NASCAR and Wallace for their efforts in bringing the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race to Iowa. "NASCAR and Rusty, of course, have a special relationship," Clement said, "and we are extremely pleased to continue our strong relationship with NASCAR with the awarding of yet another NASCAR Series race to Iowa Speedway. Our 2009 season is really shaping up to be something special."
