Davis Goes For The Hat Trick, Lawrence WOWS Grand Nationals & Lynn Nelson Wins By A Fender
by Larry Lowrey

KANSAS CITY, KS (June 9 , 2006) - Competition breeds more competition. At Lakeside Speedway the competition can't get any better in the Factory Stock division. Or can it?  Friday night, Lynn Nelson Sr. went to victory lane for the 2nd time in 2006. He did it by out running David Holcomb to the line by a fender.

The crowd stood on their feet as the two front runners went side by side for the final 3 circuits around the track. Neither driver wavered off of their line. Nelson worked the low line, while Holcomb worked the high line.

As the laps came down, Holcomb found himself in unfamiliar territory, the lead. He did a fine job making a great race the fans wont forget anytime soon. It should give him hope of a feature win soon.

Lynn Nelson looked great in gaining another feature win. Nelson showed patience as he found holes and went through them on the way to the win.

Brian Mills, Will Whisler and Buzz Kaster rounded out the top 5 in the Factory Stock event. They were all separated by mere inches.

Again the competition becomes tighter and tighter in the Factory Stock division. Will it continue this trend? Ask the 50 plus competitors in the class.

Every now and then people need to stand up and cheer for an underdog or a feel good story. Allan Lawrence provided all the fans would need at Lakeside
Speedway in the Grand National division.

Lawrence has been running in the Grand National division for the past several years and by most rights a very good racer.

Cliff Lawrence, Allan's father and mentor, has become Allan's inspiration for some solid runs lately. Allan gave his father a crew a great run on Friday
night, winning the Grand National A Main.

To make the evening more special, Lawrence got his win by driving under Gene Claxton, the top dog in the division.

Claxton looked as if he was going to get another win, as he bolted by Joey Selbach early and built a large lead. A yellow allowed the field to get closer to Claxton. Lawrence went to work. Taking a spot here and there he found himself in 2nd behind Claxton. Working the low line in turns one and two he exited with the lead and never looked back getting the win.

The finish was capped off with a victory lane picture with an excited Allan and Cliff Lawrence.

Third time is a charm! Ask modified driver Kerry Davis is he thinks the 3rd time is a charm. Friday night he picked up his 3rd win at Lakeside Speedway.

Davis came into the night tied in the points battle with Tim Karrick and he left with the lead. It was also his 200th career feature win!

Justin Boney took out to the lead first. Boney had his Harris car back on the track after an early season accident. Working out front, Boney, seemed to be
on his way.

Davis spent the early part of the feature battling with John Allen, the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Div 1 point leader, once getting by him he set he
sights on the leader. Working the low line he was able to pull even with Boney and race by out of turn number two with the lead.

The race gathered more interest as Davis, Boney and Allen stayed tucked together for the entire feature. A late race yellow brought out a green,
white, checkered finish for the fans.
Davis stayed to the bottom, Boney went to the middle, while Allen dove low. The two behind made valiant efforts to get the lead, but in the end it was
Davis getting the win.

Tim Powell had another strong week finishing 4th and Bubba Harvey rounded out the top 5.

Another great night of racing at Lakeside Speedway.
