Lakeside Finally Beats Mother Nature!
For the first time all season Lakeside Speedway finally beat Mother Nature.

KANSAS CITY, KS (July 27) - The sky was filled with clouds all night long and the thought was when was it going to come. Would there be a Sunday race? Would this be another rain out? No. Rain held off all night long until just after the last feature. The fans were rewarded with another good night of racing.

John Allen is having one of the best years in his racing career. Several wins at different tracks, no mechanical failures and a points lead at Lakeside Speedway has this Chanute driver excited. Friday night was no different as he posted yet another feature win.

Starting 9th in the feature, Allen worked his way to the front to battle the early leader, Rodney Sigg. The two battled for the top spot, but Allen has been tough at Lakeside Speedway this season and he put his Hughes Chassis in victory lane one more time.

The win helped him increase his points lead over Tim Karrick to 28. Karrick, the winner of the previous 2 races, came home in 7th spot.

Sigg had his strongest finish of the year in the runner-up spot. Tom Charles rebounded from a tough week last week to finish 3rd, a fixture in the top 5 finished 4th, Gene Claxton and rounding out the top 5 was Terry Bruner.

Fans were treated to a strong run by Lone Jack, Missouri's Chad Lyle. Lyle started 22nd in the feature and just missed out on a top 5 finish. Lyle, a former Lakeside Modified Champion, finished 6th.

Heat race winners Friday night were; Scott Crystal, Tom Charles and Kerry Davis.

In 2007 the Grand Nationals have put together some great races to remember. After last week most fans and drivers were hoping for a green, white and checkered finish. Notice the omition of the yellow flag! It didn't happen the way everyone wanted, but Tim Billings didn't mind.

For the 2nd time this season, Tim Billings found his way to victory lane. Racing to the front spot again has helped Billings to shoot up in the point standings. Cody Owens and Nic Bidinger made Billings earn his 2nd win of the year.

Owens and Bidinger moved with Billings through the field but couldn't get the job done and would finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The points battle is starting to heat up in this division. First through 3rd place is just seperated by 4 points. Cody Owens, Nic Bidinger and Tim Billings are ready to shoot it out down the stretch, but don't count out the other drivers.

Jim Baker finished 4th and Jimmy Winkler raced his way to a 5th place finish.

Heat race winners Friday night were; Darren Kling, Nic Bidinger and Jim Baker.

Everyone wondered when it was going to happen. When was Buzz Kaster going to win a Factory Stock feature? He did it a few times last year, in dramatic fashion no less. Friday night he finally put his car up front at the finish. He didn't make any last lap pass, he put it out front early and stayed there.

Kaster has been in racing for many years and it should come as no shock to anyone that he has the ability to win many races. Tonight Kaster showed that maybe it's time to take his game to the next level.

The competition is still tought in this class. Tyler Schmidt, looking for his 1st win, took home another 2nd place finish. Will Whisler, in his 2nd season, ran to a 3rd place finish, in 4th spot was Jay Kelly and point leader Tim Shields finished 5th.

As the races wind down in this class the points battle should be heating up. Tim Shields leads the points by 38 tallies, but from 2nd on back there is only 70 points seperating the next 9 spots.

Heat race winners Friday night were; Marshall Jewett, Bill Ruisinger, Ron Caldwell and Mike McCullough.
