RPM Speedway ready for 2008 season

HAYS, KS (April 10) – RPM Speedway in Hays, KS, has announced their lineup for the 2008 racing season.

The season will kick off on Friday, May 9, with Ladies Night. Mom Holiday, mother of Hays radio personality Mike Holiday, will be on hand for a meet and greet from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.. The concession stand will also feature $1.00 hot dogs, beer and soft drinks during that time. IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks will be in action, including the BST Modified Series.

Friday, May 23, will be Merchants Night with several area merchants selling discounted tickets for the evening’s program, which will feature the regular four divisions, the IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts.

Family Night will take place Friday, June 6. One child (12 & under) will be admitted free with one paid adult. Additional children will cost $5.00 each. Happy Hour at the concession stand will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and feature $1.00 hot dogs, beer and soft drinks. The United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) 305 Sprint Cars will make their first of four appearances at the 3/8-mile oval. They will be joined by the IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks.

Service men and women will be honored on Friday, July 4. Any service people showing their military I.D. or wearing their uniform will get in free. Also, anyone with a Wild West Fest ticket will get in for half price. The regular four divisions will compete.

The Ellis County fair races will be held Saturday & Sunday, July 12-13. The URSS 305 Sprint Cars will be in action both nights. The IMCA Hobby Stocks will also compete on Saturday night, while the Mod Lites will join the sprint cars on Sunday evening.

Boy Scout/Girl Scout Night will be Friday, July 25. Any Boy Scout or Girl Scout in uniform will be admitted free. All four regular classes will be on hand.

Race Cars & Superstars returns on Friday, August 15, for Big Brothers/Big Sisters Night. The IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks will be in action.

The URSS 305 Sprint Cars will return to RPM Speedway Friday, August 29. It will also be Steve King Foundation Night with some special activities to be announced. They will be joined by the IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks.

The season will wrap up with the Fall Nationals on Friday & Saturday, September 12-13. The IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, including the BST Modified Series, will be on hand with extra purse money on the line.

Race time each evening will be 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the Fall Nationals, which will start at 7:00 p.m. Friday and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The track will also feature a Kids Club this season. The first 200 kids (12 & under) on opening night will get an orange t-shirt. They can wear it to each race and will be admitted free.
