Lyle Regains Form Of Years Past, Bidinger Means Business & Taylor Coasts To Victory At Coors Light Opening Night/Day At Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS City, KS . (April 20) - Rain might have dampened the spirits of a few people on Friday night, when the word was to cancel Lakeside Speedway's opening night. Fans and racers were out in full force for Sunday's rescheduled date at Lakeside. Everyone was treated to a great outing as Mother Nature was foiled for the first time in '08.

Last season, Mike Taylor, didn't compete a whole lot at Lakeside. Sunday, he made up for some lost time as he went out and won the Factory Stock feature event.

Thirty-Seven Factory Stocks checked in for competition on this day and what a field of cars Lakeside will have on Friday nights.

Taylor did win pretty easily, but he had to fight off some hard charges from Terry Schmidt and Buzz Kaster.

Darrin Christy, looked strong, in his return to Lakeside Speedway with a 4th place finish and rounding out the top 5 was Jason Ryun.

In the Grand National division, a total of 23 Grand Nationals checked for the days event. A preinnial front-runner stole the show.

Nic Bidinger has had a lot of time to think 'what might have been last year.' Thank

goodness he can officially say that's behind him now. The 2008 season has begun.

quick winning the first heat of the night, which put him on the pole for the A Main. He would never trail as he led start to finish capping a good night, and what might be a message to everyone.

Jimmy Winkler gave Bidinger a challange, but would get caught up in the wall ending his chance at the top spot.

Brad Dibben can be happy with his first run of the new season, as the checkered flags came down he was in 2nd place, former Factory Stock Champ, Tim Shields, finished 3rd, Jason Parked pulled in a top 5 in 4th spot and rounding out the top 5 was Mike Busby.

I guess you can say Chad Lyle has been in a slump over the past couple of years. Lyle has been a racer who has won a couple of titles at Lakeside Speedway. The last couple of years though, he hasn't won a lot.

Lyle can put that slump behind him for now as he took home the checkers on opening day at Lakeside Speedway.

Joe Cobb and Kerry Davis set the pace, as the two started on the front row for the Modified Feature.

Davis sprinted out to the early lead and at times appeared that he might run away with the event.

Tim Karrick made a run on Davis, but struggled a little bit with his car. Tom Charles would also be there to run on the top spot. All of this went on while Lyle was feeling his way around and waiting to make his move.

Just after a restart, Lyle put a hard move to the bottom of turn one and upon exiting up into turn 2, he made the pass. Once he got passed Davis, Lyle was untouchable. Even through lapped traffic, Lyle made it look easy.

Davis would hold on to 2nd position, 3rd went to Tim Karrick, 4th was John O'Neal Jr. and Don Crkovich made a strong run from starting 15th to finishing 5th.

All-in-all it was a great opening day at Lakeside Speedway. All the action returns to Friday night next week, as the Factory Stocks, Grand Nationals and Modifieds go head to head at the fastest half-mile in the Midwest.
