Grabouski, Balthazor, Frye and Normandin second night winners at Stockton.
By Mike Hughes

STOCKTON, KS (August 12) - Mother Nature did all it could to prevent racing action from taking place Thursday night, August 12, at Rooks County Speedway in Stockton, KS, during the Rooks County Fair.  But promoter Rod Bencken waited it out after an hour and a half rain delay to run the show through quickly before more storms moved into the area.

The ‘Bad Boy from Beatrice’ Jordan Grabouski led all 20 laps of the IMCA Modified feature.  Darrick Klima and current national point leader David Murray Jr. chased Grabouski the entire distance but could not catch him and had to settle for second and third, followed by Jerry Teel and Corey Lagroon.  Grabouski and Murray won the two heat races.

Dustin McClurg took the lead at the drop of the green in the IMCA Stock Car 20-lap feature, and continued to lead the field at the halfway mark.  Then on lap 15, Adam Balthazor took over the top spot and held it to the checkers for the win at his hometown track.  Heat race winners McClurg and Terry Cunningham, and Pat Bedore ran close to Balthazor the last few laps but finished in that order, with Bob Arnold rounding out the top five.

The 15-lap IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature got off to a good start, with Kaid Calhoon taking the early lead, but Belleville’s Tyler Frye passed Calhoon in turn 4 on lap 9 to take command.  Caution flags on laps 10, 12 and 13 kept the field bunched late in the race but Frye held on for a trip to victory lane.  Calhoon settled for second, followed by state point leader Mathew Crowell, heat one winner Tyler Sutton, and Ryan Goheen.  Troy Attwood won the other heat race.

Mark Normandin of Salina led from green to checkered in the 15-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature.   One lonely caution did not give the field a chance to catch Normandin.  G.W. ‘Cheeseburger’ Fuller, Rhett ‘The Rocket’ Kingsbury, Cody Graham and heat one victor Kelly Karnopp would complete the top five.  ‘Luscious’ Leon Pfannenstiel was victorious in the other heat race.

Dean Kester of Prowler Chassis of Stockton sponsored trophies for the fair champions in the four divisions, accumulating points for both nights.  Fair champions in their respective divisions were David Murray, Adam Balthazor, Tyler Frye and G.W. Fuller.
