McCOOK, NE. (March 14, 2011) - After a long search, McCook Speedway has found a new promoter. Jerry Bantam of Norton, Kansas, has agreed to promote the action-sized 3/8 mile dirt track for the 2011 season. He is also the promoter of Elmwood Park Speedway in Norton, Kansas. Bantam will bring a new class to the track, the 305 Sprint Cars, sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association. They will join the Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, and Northern SportMod classes (all also sanctioned by IMCA) on opening night at McCook Speedway, Friday, April 22. The rules and specifications for the 305 Sprint Cars can be obtained by contacting Bantam. The specs for the other classes may be viewed at www.imca.com. The grandstand gates will open each racing Friday night at 6 p.m., and the races will start at 8 p.m. The pit gates will open at 4 p.m. The Red Willow County Fair race on Thursday, July 28 will start at 7 p.m., with the gates opening at 5 p.m. The times listed are Central Time. With the possible exception of the fair race (which will be determined at a later date by the Red Willow County Fairboard), admission will be $10.00 for adults 19 and older, $5.00 for students aged 13-18, and free for 12 and under with paid adult admission. Pit passes are $25.00. Driver registrations are $60.00, but if completed before April 1, are only $45.00. Registration forms can be found on www.mccookspeedway.com, which is the track's website, but need to be sent to Racing, 201 W Taft St, Norton, Kansas 67654. Drivers may also reserve a pit stall for the 2011 season for $50.00 a spot by contacting Jerry Bantam. McCook Speedway is on the Red Willow County Fairgrounds in the northwestern region of McCook, on the corner of 5th Street West and Q Streets.
