Worst to
First: Lagroon Takes Modified Win at Salina Speedway

SALINA, Kan. (May 27, 2011) - After recent rains soaked the area Salina
Speedway officials worked diligently to get the facility in shape to have
another race night after having last week off due to the rain.
They were rewarded with a lightning fast track and some great action for the
fans in attendence on Friday night. In the Belleville Motorsports Modified
division things got off to a rough start as a pileup ensued exiting turn 2
on the start involving Scott Brown, Rodger Peck, and Corey Lagroon. On the
restart Troy Johnson took command before former track champion Jerry
Phillips made a move for the lead and took over. Phillips looked to have it
in the bag until a ball joint broke on his machine bringing out the caution.
Lagroon had worked his way back up through the pack and took over the lead
shortly before the finish to pick up his first win in 2011 at the Speedway.
Larry Sutton finished second, Nic Baalman third, and Bobby Bills fourth.
Bills was also the evening's hard charger after starting twentieth. Brown,
Kurt Johnston, and Chris Vogan won the heat races.
Bob Arnold had issues on the first night the Coors Light Stock Cars competed
at the Speedway, ending with a last place finish. On the second night Arnold
captured the pole position and then led all the way to take the win in front
of the hometown crowd. Abilene's Brian Ryff finished second and also picked
up the hard charger award on the evening with Scot Granzella third and
Dustin Newlin fourth. Rick Slothower won the heat race.
It was only a matter of time before Tyler Sutton pulled off a feature win at
the Salina Speedway in the Xtreme Motorsports B-Modifieds. Sutton had 2
previous efforts inside the top 5 and was on track for the win. The car to
beat, though, was Salina's Jesse Levin. The rookie driver was holding off
Josh Rice until he lost a drive shaft ending his night. Rice and Sutton then
battled for the top spot with Sutton coming out on top, Rice second, Seth
Schroer third, and Tim McBurney fourth. Chris Humphries was the hard charger
on the evening, starting fifteenth and finishing fifth. Levin and Rice won
the heat races.
Another driver capitalizing from the pole was Earl Kinderknecht in the Auto
House Mod Lite division. Kinderknecht was never challenged as car owner
Tyler Bradshaw picked up yet another win. THe race was halted shortly with a
red flag due to rookie Jill Roberg flipping on the backstretch. She was ok
and the car was driven off the track. For the second week in a row a
Kinderknecht found victory lane with Earl Kinderknecht first, Dustin
Forsberg second, Tyler Bradshaw third, and Brian Davidson fifth. Bradshaw
was the hard charger, starting ninth and finishing third. Corbin Pickerill
and Kinderknecht won the heat races.
After running second in week two Wayne Juenemann took his Accurate Electric
Front Wheel Compact to Victory Lane this week. Junemann, who was also the
hard charger, started tenth and made short work of the field to secure the
win. Minneapolis' Gerald Brown turned in a great effort in second, followed
by Brandon Lobdell in third, and Kevin Hackett in fourth. Brandon Florke
originally finished third but was disqualified for a wrong sized tire.
Florke and Lobdell won the heat races.
The Salina Speedway will take the week off on June 3 but will return on June
10 with the Belleville Motorsports Modifieds, Xtreme Motorsports
B-Modifieds, Auto House Mod Lites, Blind Pig Sports Lounge Hobby Stocks, and
Accurate Electric Front Wheel Compacts.
