DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE TO HOST “MOTOR DAY” ON AUGUST 4
by: Thomas J Schmeh

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (July 19) - Downtown Knoxville, Iowa, will host its first-ever “Motor Day” on Saturday, August 4, in connection with Knoxville Raceway’s 360 c.i. Sprint Car Nationals. The Motor Day car and motorcycle show-n-shine event will take place on the downtown square from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is expected that many vintage cars, bikes, and racing cars that were displayed at the “Weekend of Wheels” show in April will be back for this fun summer event.

The event will be held in the afternoon, between the inaugural Knoxville Nationals 1/3- & 4k-Marathon and the Knoxville 360 Nationals finale. It will feature an exhibition of motorcycle trials riding, by a team from Wapello, Iowa, and a Mid West Drag Tractor Association (MWDTA) lawn mower race. Vendors will also be on hand, as they have been for all of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce’s first-Friday-of-the-month Bike Nites this year. In addition, Allan Robuck will provide the musical entertainment with his tribute to Elvis.

Those seeking more information on the Saturday, August 4, Motor Day in downtown Knoxville are encouraged to contact Teresa Rowley at the Chamber of Commerce at 641-828-7555 or via e-mail at trowley@iowatelecom.net .
