Rain Claims Finale of Mediacom Shootout at Knoxville Raceway for the World of Outlaws on Saturday

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 5, 2010) - Rain has forced the cancellation of the finale of the Mediacom Shootout for the World of Outlaws at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa originally scheduled for tonight (Saturday, June 5). Track crews did everything they could to try and work the surface into shape, but the storm that hit the track in the early evening dumped too much rain to make that possible. The race will not be rescheduled.

Jac Haudenschild was victorious on Friday night in the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic Presented by Mediacom, which was a special inverted race of the Top-20 finishers from Thursday night’s Mediacom Shootout. Brooke Tatnell won on Thursday night to score his first World of Outlaws win since 2008.

Joey Saldana used a fifth-place finish on Thursday night to stay on top of the World of Outlaws championship standings. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana currently holds a 19-point advantage over Jason Meyers, who finished second in the opener on Thursday, with 20-time series champion Steve Kinser third, just 22 markers out of the lead. Jason Sides moved into the fourth spot in points after a fourth-place finish on Thursday night, with four-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz currently fifth in the series standings.

The World of Outlaws return to action in the Boothill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas on Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12.
