2003-04 “MR. SPRINT CAR” SHANE STEWART TIES BRIAN BROWN FOR EARLY LEAD IN TEN-NIGHT COX DESIGN IOWA SPEED WEEK

KNOXVILLE, IOWA  (August 6, 2010)  -  Shane Stewart of Oklahoma has tied Brian Brown of Missouri for the early lead in the Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa SpeedWeek points after his win in the 20-lap Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals preliminary feature at Knoxville Raceway on Friday, which was night number two of ten straight nights of sprint car racing in central Iowa.  Night number three is the finale of the Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals, along with the winged 410-cubic-inch sprint cars, to be held on Saturday evening at the half-mile Knoxville Raceway dirt track.  102 winged 360-cubic-inch sprint cars competed over the past two nights.

The unofficial top twenty in the 2010 Cox Design Iowa Speedweek points after one night are as follows:  1., Brian Brown & Shane Stewart, 50 points (tied); 3., Johnny Herrera & Dustin Selvage, 49 points (tied); 5., Randy Hannagan & Chad Humston, 48 points (tied); 7., Jason Johnson & Sammy Swindell, 47 points (tied); 9., Brooke Tatnell & Jamie Veal, 46 points (tied); 11., Davey Heskin & Bronson Maeschen, 45 points (tied); 13., Lee Grosz & Brandon “Bud” Kaeding, 44 points (tied); 15., Matt Covington & Danny Wood, 43 points (tied); 17., Brady Bacon & Cale Conley, 42 points (tied); 19., Tony Bruce, Jr. & Darren Long, 41 points (tied).

The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speedweek includes ten straight nights of sprint car racing between Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway.  The top three places pay $2,500, $1,000, and $500, respectively, with the winner declared the Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist.  Past “Mr. Sprint Car” titlists include Ricky Logan (2002) of Arkansas, Shane Stewart (2003, ’04) of Oklahoma, Billy Alley (2005) of Nebraska, Jason Johnson (2006) of Louisiana, Wayne Johnson (2007, ‘08) of Oklahoma, and Terry McCarl (2009) of Iowa.
