Local Sponsor Comes Through for Hobby Stocks and Wild Things

DONNELLSON, IA (Oct. 14, 2006) - The new Purse Sponsorship program that is being used for Shiverfest at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson has already attracted some support for the Modifieds, Stock Cars and B-Modifieds. But, until today, nobody had chosen to add some money into the purse for the Hobby Stocks and Wild Things for the seventh running of the family fun racing event scheduled for Saturday October 21st. The business group that operates Mt. Hamill Elevator & Lumber, Mt. Pleasant Lumber and the Donnellson Elevator, always a strong supporter of the Lee County Speedway, has taken care of that by donating $50 to the purse of each division.

“These guys were the title sponsor for the Sprint Invaders season championship race here in late September and, without them going above and beyond the call of duty, we might not have even had a show that night,” stated track promoter Terry Hoenig. The city of Donnellson was doing maintenance on the water tower that weekend and there just was not enough water pressure at the track to fill the water truck for track preparation. “The guys at the Donnellson Elevator hauled water in for us all day to work the track. Not only did their sponsorship allow us to present the show, it was their extra efforts that made it a great night of racing.” The drivers in both the Hobby Stock and Four-Cylinder “Wild Things” division will appreciate their support at the pay window next Saturday.

Pit gates will open at noon on October 21st and drivers are encouraged to arrive early. The pill draw will end at 3:00 p.m. as the drivers’ meeting begins and hot laps will get underway at 3:15. Drivers who would like to participate in trick-or-treating for the kids should have their car and their treats ready to go to the infield at 4:00 and green flag racing will get underway at 4:30 p.m..
