All Iowa Points Bonus to Debut at Lee County’s “Shiverfest”
by: Jeff Broeg

DONNELLSON, IA (Sept 29) - Drivers who have enjoyed success throughout the 2007 racing season will have the opportunity to earn some extra cash at “Shiverfest” through a program announced today by the All Iowa Points. The AIP Bonus will be paid to the feature winners in all five divisions during the Lee County Speedway’s annual finale on Saturday October 20th.

Based upon the All Iowa Points standings through October 14th, drivers ranked in the top ten of their division will earn the top-level “Gold” bonus if they can win the “Shiverfest” feature in their division, drivers ranked 11th through 30th will earn the second-level “Silver” bonus if they win and drivers ranked 31st through 100th will take home the “Bronze” bonus with a feature victory. Each bonus is in addition to the winner’s purse already posted for the event.

“I have been compiling the All Iowa Points throughout most of the past twenty-eight years and I have always tried to figure out a way to make them more than just something fun to look at,” commented Hawkeye Racing News columnist Jeff Broeg. “I want to thank promoters Terry and Jenni Hoenig for giving this concept a try and I hope that this is something that we might be able to roll out to more events and more tracks in 2008.”

Broeg wanted to make it clear that while this program is an additional incentive to drivers who rank high in the All Iowa Points, the event is still open to all drivers throughout the Midwest. “Shiverfest has always drawn a diverse field of drivers looking for that one last opportunity to go racing before the season ends. I’ve seen drivers there from southeast Nebraska, southern Minnesota, all across Missouri and of course throughout Iowa and Illinois, so I hope that we can get some nice weather and have them coming in from all directions once again.” As always drivers need to check with the Lee County Speedway prior to making the trip to make sure that they meet the rules for the event. “The All Iowa Points tries to rank drivers competing within a similar division across all of the tracks in and around the state,” said Broeg. “Even though a driver may be ranked in the top ten in his or her division doesn’t mean that their car will be legal to compete at Shiverfest. Check the rules first before making the trip and we hope to see you there!”

Five divisions of cars will be in action during “Shiverfest”. Modifieds will be looking for a posted winner’s check of $500 with a Gold bonus of $300, a Silver bonus of $200 and a bronze bonus of $100. The Stock Car feature will pay $300-to-win with a Gold bonus of $200, a Silver bonus of $150 and a Bronze bonus of $100. Both the B-Mods and the Hobby Stocks will look for a $250 first-place check with a Gold Bonus of $175, a Silver bonus of $125 and a Bronze bonus of $75. The four cylinder “Wild Things” will also be in action with $100 posted to win with a Gold bonus of $150 a Silver bonus of $100 and a Bronze bonus of $50. Gates will open at noon on Saturday October 20th and early arriving fans will have the opportunity to take a Hayrack Ride through the pit area to watch crews and drivers prepare for the racing action ahead. The pill draw will close and the driver’s meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. Kids in costume will be able to call on their favorite drivers to Trick-or-Treat on the infield immediately following Hot Laps that will get underway at 3:15.
