O’Reilly WOW headlines Wednesday Night in Donnellson
By Jake Croxton

DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 16) – In just two days, the raw horsepower of the 360 Sprint Cars will return to the Lee County Speedway as the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors make their first appearance of 2008. Budweiser, Big Country 103.1, and Lee County Bank and Trust present the Wednesday Night special event.

Sedalia, Missouri’s Jonathan Cornell leads the series to Donnellson. Cornell’s 7 Top 10s in 8 races leave the driver just eight points ahead of 3-time, defending series champion Randy Martin. Rookie driver Austin Alumbaugh of Higginsville, Missouri, sits third in the standings with one feature win. Brian Brown and Jesse Hockett lead the WOW with two wins each. Other drivers registering feature wins this season are Missouri’s Jon Corbin, who won the series’ most recent event in Moberly, Missouri, Oklahoma’s Aaron Berryhill, and Louisiana’s Jason Johnson.

The 25-lap feature will pay $1,200 to win and $200 to start. All non-qualifiers will receive $100. A WOW registration is not required to enter the Donnellson event, but the driver will forfeit all WOW series points.

Drivers will be required to pay their $25 pit pass and a $10 draw fee, of which proceeds go toward the WOW Safety Team. For more information, consult wowsprints.homestead.com.

Also on the card are the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds for $500 to win, the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars for $400 to win, and the Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things for $200 to win. It will be a draw/redraw format for all classes. Modified and Stock Car drivers MUST have an IMCA License to compete as IMCA State, National, and Regional points are on the line. No track membership is required for the non-points event.

Drivers in the Modified and Stock Car divisions will also be competing for a provisional starting spot in the July 3 Liberty Cup. The highest finishing car not qualified on July 3 will earn the 25th starting position.

Grandstand admission is $12 for Adults (18-59), $11 for Seniors (60+), $7 for Students (11-17) and Free for Kids (10 and under). Pit passes are $25. The gates open at 5:30. Hot Laps begin at 7pm with racing to follow at 7:30.
