By Jake Croxton

DONNELLSON, IA (Aug. 20, 2008) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa will crown its first champion of 2008 with the annual running of the Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Model Season Championship this Friday, August 22.

Backslash Technologies is giving away a race computer again in 2008. This year’s model is a replica of a racing engine. The top six heat race qualifiers from the IMCA Late Model heat races will qualify for a special 6-lap dash, as a part of the Performance Bodies Dash Series in 2008. Six fans will match up with the six qualified drivers and the winner will earn the computer for his/her lucky fan.

A lot of racing will be on tap as all five weekly classes will be on the car. Points battles have two more weeks to come to fruition for the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars, Donnellson Tire Hobby Stocks, Lawson Racing Engines and Parts Supply SportMods, and Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things.

Quincy’s Jason Frankel holds an 5-point lead over Jay Johnson going into the final 25-lapper of 2008. Frankel, Johnson, and Denny Woodworth own victories thus far. The race winner will earn $800, with additional dollars provided by Taylor Massner and Nick & Kerri Wilkerson.

All Denmark, Wever, and West Point residents will be admitted free courtesy of Ann Menke CPA, Lee County Bank, Menke Professional Auto Parts, Speedway Sign Shop, Harvest Moon Quilt Co., & Green Bay Motors.

It will also be Thirsty Friday on August 22, as all paid admissions receive their first drink free courtesy of Pepsi, Budweiser, and Miller Lite. Grandstand admission is $10 for Adults (18-59), $9 for Seniors (60+), $7 for Students (11-17), and Free for Kids (10 and under). Pit passes are $20. Pit gates open at 5:30, with Hot Laps at 7pm and the first race at 7:30.
