Lee County Speedway release tentative 2012 schedule
Launches new website as new season approaches

DONNELLSON, Iowa (December 16, 2011) - With 2012 just over two weeks away, the new management at Lee County Speedway, Donnellson, Iowa, released its tentative 2012 schedule today.

Specials highlight the season at the beginning and end, with the opening night scheduled for April 13. That night will be highlighted with a $1,000 to win IMCA Modified show, with the rest of the classes to be announced later.

Night two of the season, April 20, is slated to be a big one for 305 Sprint Car fans and drivers. Just how big is yet to be determined, but make sure to keep your eyes open for more news on this big event.

Weekly points racing begins April 27, with all five classes, including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.

The Midwest Open Wheel Association winged Sprint Car series will likely be making a stop at the 3/8th mile speedway in May.

Weekly racing continues in June with the Liberty Cup stop for the Hawkeye Dirt Tour still a possibility, but not yet on the schedule for the end of June.

One week will be taken off as we take a late season pit stop in August, before the weekly points season comes to a conclusion at the end of August.

Racing returns to Lee County Speedway with Saturday action Sept. 15, as the Sprint Invaders are scheduled to make a stop at the speedway.

The Modified Smackdown makes a jump to the end of the season with a date currently scheduled for Sept. 29. That will also include the Kirchner Memorial for IMCA Sport Mods. This late season race should be a big one for area racers.

Shiverfest is currently scheduled to end the season on Oct. 13, with the annual event bringing a conclusion to racing action at Lee County Speedway for the 13th straight year.

Also, for area racers and fans Lee County Speedway and 34 Raceway are working together for a late season challenge for its four matching classes. More information will be released after the first of the year, but fans will notice quickly that neither track will be scheduling on top of each other next year!
We hope a little cooperation will make life a lot easier for fans and drivers alike in 2012.

NOTE: This schedule is very tentative, dates, classes and times are all subject to change. A solid schedule will be release sometime in February or March.
