Clyde Ellis Late Model Showdown at Lakeside Speedway

BUCKNER, MO (September 28, 2010) - The Lucas Oil MLRA will hit the track for
two nights of racing this weekend. The Clyde Ellis Late Model Showdown and
Modified Shootout, will run both Friday and Saturday nights at Lakeside
Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. The Late Model feature event will pay $3000
to the winner Friday night and $5000 on Saturday. This event is a fan
favorite with NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer confirmed to appear with late model
driver Dale McDowell. Other NASCAR stars Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will
also be returning to the 4/10 mile track.
Republic, Missouri's Brad Looney continues to lead the Lucas Oil MLRA Points
Championship going into the weekend. After a second place finish at I-80
Speedway in the Cornhusker Classic, Looney has lengthened his lead to ten
points over Oxford, Iowa's Dave Eckrich. Eckrich has raced very consistently
all season and remained a top three points contender all summer. Al Purkey
follows behind in the third position by another ten points. Joe Kosiski and
Terry Phillips round out the top five, with Jeremy Payne in a close sixth
position. Rookie of the year candidate Evan Hubert, driver of the 9E
Rockstar Energy Drink MasterSbilt Race Car is in the seventh points
position. Kelly Boen, John Anderson and Bill Koons make up the remainder of
the top ten. Justin Asplin, also a Rookie of the Year candidate, falls just
outside the top ten in the eleventh spot. Asplin is looking to break into
the top ten driving the 77A Rockett with a Hatfield racing engine.

The Clyde Ellis Late Model Showdown and Modified Shootout will take place
this Friday October 1st, and Saturday, October 2nd. Spectator Gates will
open at 5:00 pm on both nights, hot laps at 7:00 pm and racing begins at
7:30. Adult Admission at the gate will be just $25. Juniors (8-14) will be
$6 and Kids 7 and under are always FREE at Lakeside Speedway. Tickets may be
pre-purchased through the track ticket office at a discount price of $22.
