Sunflower State Showdown

JETMORE, KS (April 27, 2011) - The Lucas Oil MLRA will jump back into action this weekend at Patrick Johnson's Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore, KS. The Sunflower State Showdown will pay $10,000 to the winner with $700 awarded just to start the 50 Lap A Main. 2008 series champion John Anderson was the inaugural race winner. This will be he first year the Lucas Oil MLRA has taken part in this event. Other sanctioning bodies include; MARS, NCRA, CLMA and UMP.

With 3 races in the books, drivers at or near the top of the standings will need to run well to stay in line for a provisional as the 19th Annual Dart Show Me 100 looms. Look for the strong contingent of series regulars to be on hand in addition to representatives from the other sanctioning bodies. Jesse Stovall from Galena, MO currently leads the series standings in his SR Motorsports Shaw. 7 Time and defending Lucas Oil MLRA Champion Al Purkey sits in second, just 4 points behind Stovall. Terry Phillips is third. Kyle Berck is fourth, and Brad Looney is fifth.

The event purse for this unique event is $40,000. 27 cars will start the A Main. One provisional each will be awarded to the MLRA, MARS and NCRA. Those unable to attend the event may listen to complete live audio coverage on RacinDirt.com.

Practice for the race will take place from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM on Friday. Grandstand admission is FREE and pit passes are $15.00 for practice. Saturday hot laps are scheduled to start at 7:00 PM with racing to follow at 7:30. Adult admission on Saturday is $25 with children age 11 and under FREE!
