by: Dennis Grabenbauer

MARSHALLTOWN, IA (Nov. 1) - The final event of the 2007 racing season at the Marshalltown Speedway will take place Saturday night November 3rd with the year ending banquet. Second year promoter is pleased with how his second season worked out. “We started this season with our new concession stand which added to the continued improvements that are taking place at the speedway”, said promoter Toby Kruse. “The racing week in and week out has just been outstanding. Our fans, driver’s and crews are willing to work with all of us in putting on the best and most competitive races around, and that is great for everyone. My goal has been from the start, to make our speedway the best in the country, and even though we are happy with this year’s outcome, I still say that it is just a start.”

Awards will be awarded to the top ten in all divisions, which includes; Aarons I.M.C.A. Stock Cars, I.M.C.A. Modifieds, I.M.C.A. Sport Mods, I.M.C.A. Hobby Stocks and Dwarf Cars. “This season has been our first season that we have run the Dwarf Cars on a full time basis, and they have really met everyone’s expectations, in bringing a very competitive class to our speedway”, continued Kruse.

Through out the coarse of the 2007, five nights would be cancelled due to rain. “We had a total of 28-nights scheduled, it’s unfortunate when Mother Nature speaks, so when the rain comes we just wait and look forward to next week. I just can’t say enough about our weekly car counts. 236 different drivers from nine different states visited our speedway this year which amounted to 4121 laps of racing the fans were able to enjoy”.

Season ending banquet will be held in the Activity building at the Central Iowa Fair grounds this Saturday night. A meet-and-greet will begin at 6:00 followed by a hearty racers meal at 7:00 with the Awards Banquet starting at 8:00 then the night will be featuring music by “Don and the Country Bells”. “I just want to invite everyone out to meet the drivers, do some bench racing and enjoy what we all have in common and that is motorsports. And it’s my time to say thanks to all of our sponsors, crews and fans for the final time in 2007 as we look ahead to 2008”.
